A 1983 ORIGINAL ISSUE
With great sadness, we pay tribute to one of our original Seeberger & Associates members, Joseph Bond. Joe passed away on June 2, 2017. Joe grew up in Carbondale, Illinois. Upon graduating from college, he came to Houston, TX.
As a partner of Listi-Seeberger Architects, I hired Joe in the early 1980’s. When Seeberger & Associates started up in 1983, Joe gladly accepted an offer to join the new, fledging firm, without hesitation.
The original staff was comprised of Joe Bond, Kitty Taylor, Sherry Beard and Perry Seeberger, all from Listi-Seeberger. A few months later, with Joe’s insistence, Tracy Wade, also followed us from Listi-Seeberger. Within a year or so, we were joined by Tim Cowell and Carlos Martin.
We all have great memories of working together as a young startup architectural company in 1983. Though our time together was shortened by the Texas real estate and banking crisis of 1986, it made an indelible impact on all of our careers.
Joe, with a distinctive drafting style and hand lettering, produced the most beautiful drawings. He set the office standards.
In 2008, for Seeberger Architecture’s 25th Anniversary, nearly all of the early staff were reunited to celebrate this milestone, traveling from coast to coast. It was a most memorable evening.
Christine Bond, Joe's wife of 21 years writes “I know at one time in Joe's life you were great friends & he cherished the memories taken away from the Seeberger reunion held before Tracy Wade's passing.”
She adds, “Joe's charity of choice would be the National Trust for Historic Preservation or the National Psoriasis Foundation, or to adopt a rescue dog. He loved all dogs.”
Our thoughts and prayers are with Joe, and his widow, Christine.
Just thought it was important to acknowledge the accomplishments of the early Seeberger pioneers. It was because of these individuals that the original startup company was named “Seeberger & Associates.” I knew I couldn’t do it alone!

“I realize that Williams pays Seeberger + Associates for services rendered, but all of you go beyond what is required, in my opinion. You always seem to have our interests at heart.”
“We’ve never had a better architect/ construction team on any project, anywhere. Period.”
“I was just looking at the HBJ today and saw you were a finalist for a Landmark Award for HASP – congratulations! I didn’t realize you did that project. My son is out there every Wednesday for training. We love the building!”
“Thank You. I must say that I am very pleased with the outcome and process of this job. It went very smooth and was delivered on time. Just as important to me is how little issues and problems we had. With AMB downsizing our development team is just me… I have limited hours to get involved in every detail or problem. I want to thank all of you for making this a seamless project.”
“Our team was able to reduce the buildings overall operating costs while conserving natural resources, positively impacting the environment and the local economy. Central Green nine is Houston’s first LEED certified industrial building and will look forward to raising the bar and developing more high performance buildings in the region.”
“Seeberger Architecture does a great job and is very flexible to work with. Their experience is more construction oriented so the drawings are typically more construction oriented so the drawings are typically more construction friendly, though I have found their designs to be excellent also. I would highly recommend them.”
“Thanks for the time you are putting into this project. Appreciate the service you guys give me…much appreciated.”
“I just wanted to send you this e-mail thanking you and your staff for the excellent Job you did on the redevelopment of our 40 acre site. We have received tons of positive comments from our tenants and brokers regarding how great the development looks. You and your team was a crucial component to the success of the project. As you know, this was a very complex site with many existing conditions that we had to work around and several…
